What's this ISIS nonsense...

I don’t normally get caught up in the news because it is all so depressing. And when news stations talk about what Obama is or isn’t doing for our country (or when they talk about any other political topic) it’s just a bunch of people arguing and complaining but not actively doing anything about it. With that being said, I do actually stay abreast of general things that are going on in the world and I have noticed a lot of talk about something called ISIS. So I looked it up to see what all the hype was about.

ISIS COLLECTIONS INC. is your one stop shop for luxurious hair. At their website, you can get weaves, wigs, hair pieces, braids, etc. It isn’t really my kind of store, but they seem to be doing alright. Not sure why they are all over the news, though.

The ISIS WALLET APP on Android makes paying easier than it ever has been. I’m not sure exactly how it works but it seems like a Paypal-type service that is automatically loaded on your Android device. For some reason they are rebranding it as “Softcard” now but I don’t know why because they were getting a lot of media attention with their old name.

ISIS PHARMACEUTICALS claims to be a “leading company in antisense drug discovery and development, exploiting a novel drug discovery platform [they] created to generate a broad pipeline of first-in-class drugs.” I literally have no clue what that means but “exploiting” has a bad connotation so I am not sure I want them as my drug dealer. Maybe that’s why everyone is so worried about ISIS.

ISIS is the fictional spy company in the TV show Archer which will premiere its sixth season in January of 2015. I do enjoy this show because it is well-written and hilarious but I don’t see why everyone is so scared of ISIS because it’s a fictional company. It’s not real.

ISIS is one of the many Egyptian goddesses and she has been worshipped for many, many years. Some still worship her today in pagan religions but she was mostly worshipped in ancient history. According to Wikipedia, she was “worshipped as the ideal mother and wife” and her origins go back as far as 2494 BCE. So, she’s been around for a long time and now she is just starting to show up in the news? That’s strange.

I actually do realize what is going on and it's serious and a bit frightening. It is just a shame that humans would do those things to other humans. Unfortunately, regardless of if it should or not, it affects these businesses negatively in our world where branding is everything.

That’s it for now...
